Wetlands are one of the most productive ecosystems on the planet. Wetlands filter our water, mitigate flooding, protect our shorelines, and provide critical habitat for our waterfowl and more than 900 species of animals. Since 1937, Ducks Unlimited has conserved more than 15 million acres throughout North America and 73,313 acres right here in Virginia.  Recent DU projects completed in cooperation with the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries not only provide critical wintering habitat for our migratory waterfowl but also allows public access for hiking, fishing, and hunting.
