New Orleans 84th Annual National Convention
We are happy you plan to join us in New Orleans for Ducks Unlimited’s 84th Annual National Convention September 8-11, 2021. Our dedicated Louisiana DU volunteers have helped us create a gathering not to be missed! With the traditional “lagniappe” – a little something extra - added to every detail, the New Orleans convention will be one to remember!!
To assist in your planning, we have created a brochure which provides all the details. The brochure can be accessed at convention.ducks.org, your convention home page. The New Orleans Marriott will serve as our host hotel. Located just steps from famous Bourbon Street, you will be in the heart of the Big Easy!
Not far from the French Quarter is Louisiana’s sportsman’s paradise! With Redfish jumping less than an hour from the hotel, we have put together a fishing tournament for those able to arrive early. With an early departure from the hotel on Tuesday morning, you will be on the water catching fish by sunrise! After lunch and the weigh in, you will return to the hotel with your fish waiting in the hotel's deep freeze! Catch a quick nap and have a fun dinner in New Orleans before the convention begins. Purchase your one-day saltwater license here. Please wait until after June 30th to purchase your license.
Official convention festivities begin on Wednesday with DU Louisiana’s famous Roadkill Cookoff. Now, this isn’t your typical possum off the road, this is something that Louisiana does best! Fresh seafood, alligator, Cajun favorites and a few other surprises cooked by award winning DU chefs who cook in a style that is decidedly Louisiana! BAM!! This party will be held at Mardi Gras World’s new location along the Mississippi River. With plenty of indoor and outdoor space, this evening will be one to remember. How can you top great local music and Big Easy cuisine? Well, easy, you include your DU friends!
To round-out our time in New Orleans we have the following activities planned:
- Tuesday – Pre-convention coastal Redfish fishing tournament
- Wednesday – DU Louisiana's Famous Roadkill Cookoff at Mardi Gras World
- Hospitality Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
- Friday – General Session I, Wings Over Wetlands Celebration Dinner
- Saturday – General Session II, DU's 84th Annual Gala and Auction
