Wesley Atwood Memorial Fund
It
is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the untimely passing of Wesley
Atwood, a dedicated Ducks Unlimited volunteer on the Gainesville committee.
Wesley was the owner of Atwood Contracting, a business he built from scratch
and one he grew to a large scale in a short amount of time. He was an avid
outdoorsman who loved anything involving a tractor, ducks, dogs, or
wingshooting.
Wesley
was one of the most optimistic people you could ask to be around, always
carrying a sheepish grin on his face. He was the kind of friend you wanted to
share a sunrise in the duck blind with, and he was always quick to let someone
else pull the trigger before he did. He was kind, gentle, and patient. Hard
work was in his blood and he put his work ethic and passion for wetlands
conservation into gear any time he could. He gave of his time, talent, and
treasure and was as strong a DU volunteer that one could hope to serve
alongside.
His
family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Ducks
Unlimited in his memory.
While
his 34 years on this Earth were short, his smile will continue in our memories
and his legacy will shine upon the horizon over many more duck blinds that we
get to enjoy.
