A letter from you State Chairman
Finally it’s back! After four long years it’s state convention time again.
Our last in-person convention was in 2019. A lot has happened during that time. We faced down a global pandemic. We were prohibited from meeting by the government. We’ve dealt with ice storms. We’ve seen cancellations due to tornadoes and fires. But through it all, we persevered and along the way figured out a whole new way to fundraise AND we learned how to Zoom!
And when you think about it, it reminds us of DU’s story. Ducks Unlimited was born out of adversity in 1937 and accomplished phenomenal protections for wetlands and waterfowl though the years showing the world we are the leader in wetlands conservation. And make no mistake about it, the habitat challenges we face today are as daunting as anything we have seen in the past. But that’s what DU does. It meets challenges head-on with a can-do spirit and gets things done.
And now we’re back, stronger than ever and ready to celebrate the best fundraising year in Kentucky history. That’s right! The 2022-2023 fiscal year is our best year ever. From Hickman to Alexandria, from Bardstown to Bowling Green, from Somerset to La Center and all points in between, wetlands conservation is alive and well and the ducks have you to thank for it. If that’s not reason enough to get together and celebrate our accomplishments, I don’t know what is.
That’s why on August 19, we’re going to convene in Louisville at the Holiday Inn Hurstbourne’s Convention Center to celebrate what you as volunteers and members have accomplished. It’s going to be a great time of fellowship, recognition, celebration and motivation as we do what we do best; have a really good time! and prepare to launch into the upcoming fundraising season and build on your remarkable accomplishments of this past year.
You don’t want to miss this year’s state convention. It going to be great! I look forward to seeing you there.
