Colorado DU Shiras Moose Auction

For nearly20 years, Colorado Ducks Unlimited has been awarded a coveted Shiras moose license to auction with a portion of the proceeds (25%) coming back to CO DU for wetlands projects and 75% to the Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW).  DU volunteers handle the auction plus they set on CPW’s Auction & Raffles conservation board which allocates the state’s proceeds for conservation projects and programs.  As always, DU looks out for partnership projects involving wetlands which are excellent habitat for both mallards and moose and remains Ducks Unlimited’s primary mission. 

DU’s auction license for 2025 was auctioned at a Denver DU banquet event in October 2024. The auction date for the 2026 Shiras license (valid September thru December 2026) as yet to be set.  Recent years the Shiras tag auction sales have ranged from $75,000 to a record high of $100,000 in 2022.  For additional information persons interested in participating in Colorado DU’s 2026 Shiras moose license auction can contact Kirk Davidson, auctioneer and coordinator for the sale.  He can be reached at 303-927-1949 or email kdavidsonco@outlook.com
